Sacraments

The saving words and deeds of Jesus Christ are the foundation of what he would communicate in the Sacraments through the ministers of the Church. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the Church recognizes the existence of Seven Sacraments instituted by the Lord. They are the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist), the Sacraments of Healing (Penance and the Anointing of the Sick), and the Sacraments at the Service of Communion (Marriage and Holy Orders). Through the Sacraments, God shares his holiness with us so that we, in turn, can make the world holier.

Ordination

Religious life ought to promote growth in the church by way of attraction. The church must be attractive. Wake up the world! Be witnesses of a different way of doing things, of acting, of living! . . . It is this witness that I expect of you. Religious should be men and women who are able to wake the world up.

—Pope Francis, meeting with the Union of Superiors General, November 29, 2013

Marraige

Lord: We thank you for the gift of love and the blessings of marriage. May your infinite love sustain couples and deepen their love as they experience both the joys and challenges of married life.

May God’s Spirit touch all here present today as well as those who wished to come but were unable to do so; may the example of those celebrating significant wedding anniversaries inspire and encourage us all.

May God’s Spirit touch all those preparing for marriage, may your Spirit of Wisdom guide and protect them on their path together in your grace and love.

May God’s Spirit touch all those in the Autumn of their married lives, that they may reap the harvest of the love they have sown.
